Approaching prospects is one aspect of building an MLM business that scares a lot of aspiring networkers. You see, if you’re new to the industry and do your promotion primarily through offline methods, it’s normal to feel intimidated or afraid of approaching prospects. It takes a lot of courage to be able to start a conversation and smoothly guide your prospect into your business opportunity presentation.
But all this doesn’t need to be difficult. Fear is only in the mind. In fact, if you just take the time to approach more people, you’ll find that many of them are actually open to the idea of earning an extra income. Another reason why you feel fear is that you don’t know what to say or what to do. Here are some things that might be able to help you:
1. Approach your prospect with free information. This is important because free valuable information is often the best way to build rapport with a prospect. For example, if you know that your prospect is interested in information on how to lose weight, you can approach him by giving a free booklet, CD, or newsletter that tackles weight loss methods. Or you can share some interesting pieces of knowledge on how to make more money in a sideline business. You have to be creative here.
2. Ask the prospect a question that uncovers his or her real needs or wants. Your goal here is to identify existing needs of the other individual so you can give a relevant solution. You do this by asking non-threatening questions aimed at uncovering those needs.
