Airlines around the world enter into agreements with select partners for providing their passengers with the ease of movement on different routes. One of these agreements that is also the most significant in the aviation industry, is that of codeshare. This clause is between two or more airlines, wherein a flight is ticketed in the name of any of these, but is operated by only one. These agreements enable passengers, making reservations with one airline, to book flights to destinations that are not operated by it, but by its partner. Jet Airways also has codeshare agreements with other airlines, and here is the information on it.

Partner Airlines

Before mentioning the codeshare partner airlines of the carrier, it is worth noting the fact that these agreements are route specific. While entering into these, airlines pinpoint the routes, which will be covered. Some of its partners are Air Berlin, Air Canada, Air Seychelles, Etihad Airways, Korean Air, United and Vietnam Airlines. Such clauses also establish the policy alignment on frequent flyer program es as well as baggage policies. Passengers are advised to check the details of these arrangements before booking tickets in order to avail the benefits associated with them.

Jet and Etihad Partnership

Among its partners, Etihad Airways needs a special mention because of the fact that it also holds a 24 per cent equity stake in Jet Airways airlines. This allows passengers to fly to or from the cities in Europe, the Gulf region, Americas and Australia with one carrier if the services of the other are unavailable. The Indian carrier clearly points out that its frequent flyer program members will earn JP Miles. These can be earned on the flights, operated by the Middle Eastern air service provider between Abu Dhabi and seven Indian cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram. Passengers traveling on such flights are eligible for the following benefits:

All members are eligible for getting credit for their tier status, accrual of flown JP Miles and Cabin Bonus JP Miles. Blue and Blue Plus Jet Privilege members are not offered Tier Bonus JP Miles, but Silver, Gold and Platinum members are given 15, 25 and 50 per cent. Members of the last three tiers are also allowed a higher baggage allowance. They are respectively provided with 10, 15 and 20 kg of allowance for excess baggage. Other facilities like priority check-in and priority bag tagging, and lounge access and priority boarding are available exclusively to Gold and Platinum members.

Benefits

With this partnership, passengers from India can travel to destinations beyond the route of Jet Airways, using the flights of its partner. Both benefit from this clause since these do not have to deploy additional resources, such as new aircraft. Rather, the existing network coverage of the associate is used for this purpose. This enables the carrier to tap into the potential of the destinations, reached by the other. For passengers, codeshare agreements make possible traveling to new destinations by using the ticketing facility of one airline. The need for ticketing on the other carrier is nullified as the connections are provided through codeshare.

People can check all this information before making their flight booking to avail the numerous benefits associated with such partnerships.
